Veggie Paintings on Coasters

FIT FOR FOODIES AND VEGAN FRIENDLY!

During the summer, I found some beautiful little vegetables at the farmers’ market across the street, and decided to take time to paint them. I chose a handful of cipollini onions, Brussels sprouts, red onions and shiitake mushrooms. In a few days I completed several 4×4 watercolors of the veggies. The original watercolor paintings were popped into some cute little black frames and they sold almost immediately. Before I let them go, though, I scanned images of the paintings thinking I could do something more with them.

Fine Italian Marble Coasters featuring my watercolor paintings.

I called a local manufacturer named Studio Vertu to talk to them about making coasters. They use fine Italian marble to produce beautiful heavyweight coasters that really last. I am selling these as a set of 4 for $45, plus shipping.

Some of you may know that in a former career, I was a caterer and personal chef. The thing that I loved most about my time in the kitchen was the color and sheen of fresh fruits and vegetables; their intense hues, translucent skins, curly leaves and tender flesh. Because I love to cook and paint, I drew images of my favorite tools and included them on the coasters. If you look closely, you can see repeating images of paint brushes and paring knives on these coasters.

Each coaster has a cork backing and weighs in at 9.6 oz or 273 grams, so they are much sturdier than ceramic coasters. The set comes in a tidy little box, ready to be gift wrapped. Please contact me below if you are interested in purchasing a set. They will make great gifts for the foodies in your life, and I love saying that they are vegan friendly!
