9am – 4pm all 3 days
8 North Center for the Arts
8 North Fort Thomas Avenue, Fort Thomas KY 41075
Class Fee is $375
Registration is open!
Please note that you will be directed to this class listing on the Village Players of Fort Thomas website. Please set up an account with them in order to register. This will require your email, password, address, phone number, etc. Payment is processed through Village Players and an app called arts-people.
This class will be an intensive three days of making art. Each day will be approximately 6 hours of class-time. All supplies will be provided for your use during the class. Students will have the option of purchasing a gel plate at the end of class.
At the end of the class, you will have a small painting, written materials, and an understanding of the materials needed to successfully create gel printed paper.
- The first day will involve a short lesson on color mixing with acrylic paint, tracing and painting a “road-map” onto a rigid panel.
- The second day will involve hands-on instruction that guides the student in creating one-of-a-kind hand-painted papers, using a gel plate and acrylic paint. The goal is to produce papers that can be used in their final project, covering the painting that they created the day before. These papers can be used for other things like collage, card making, scrapbooking, etc.
- The third day will be choosing hues and values of the painted papers and applying them to the wood panel to create a finished Torn Paper Painting.
Cost: $375
(includes 18 hours of instruction and materials for your use during the class).

Let’s print gorgeous hand-painted papers and create a simple still-life painting together!
Make your own torn-paper collage painting using a simple and fun technique. We will draw and paint a simple road-map painting, create art papers using a gelatin printing plate and assemble them into a finished impressionistic still-life painting.
I made the video above for a presentation to the Woman’s Art Club of Cincinnati in October 2021. It gives an overview of the process of painting paper with a gelatin printing plate.
The images below show some of the materials we will use, and steps along the way to the finished painting.
YES, YOU CAN DO THIS! … YES YOU CAN!
I am providing all the supplies you will need, just bring a good attitude and be ready to have fun!
Note, this process is not good for your manicure, so schedule that after the class :^)
